I recently took this photo in Lyme Regis, Dorset, on the south coast of England.
But what time of day was the picture taken, morning or afternoon?
Have a go before reading the answer below.
Spoiler alert, answer coming up…
The shape of the tree’s branches show us that south is to the right of the picture.
This means we are looking broadly east.
We can see the sun behind the tree, which means it is in the eastern sky.
If the sun is in the east it must be before midday.
Answer: It’s the morning.
Supporting evidence: The sky is also very clear, a very pure blue, which is more common in the morning than the afternoon.
