A path through the woods with fog and green plants.

This Morning on ITV

It was a fun morning on Friday, with the ‘This Morning‘ team in the ITV woods.

It’s always an interesting challenge because I’m given about twenty minutes to sniff out some interesting seasonal outdoor clues and signs for the viewers in a tiny patch of woodland between busy roads. It’s the sort of thing I would have found a bit too intense for comfort twenty years ago, but now mostly find both fun and funny. The ITV team were brilliant.

We talked about midwinter tameness in birds, the night eyes of animals (tapetum lucidum), and looked at tree clues, marcescence, trentepohlia algae and the meaning of spines on holly trees.
