Red Fruits on the South Side of Plants and Trees

In late summer many plants and trees come into fruit.

The fruits have come from flowers and these flowers are more common on the south side of trees, but why?

Flowers attract insects for pollination and they do this by reflecting the sun’s light. We get more light arriving from the south and so flowers are more common on the south side. This means we get more fruits on the south side later in the year also.
