What do these pictures have in common?

I’m back from a short natural navigation exercise. It didn’t go to plan, but that is always part of the plan. I’d hate to stop learning!

Have a look at the photos on this page and see if you can work out what they have in common. They all contain one clue that points to the same thing, but what is it?

They all contain a clue that suggests we are in an area with acidic soil: bracken, larch, sandy soil, haircap moss and sweet chestnut trees.
