Every time we look out at the sea there are lots of colours. Our brain tends to mash them all up because it is busy and focuses on motion and things that really stand out.
But once we know what to look for, it is much easier to spot these subtle colour shifts. Each one has meaning.
There are 5 main colours in this sea, each with a different cause:
- Breaking waves
- Churned sand
- Shallow water (unchurned)
- Deeper water (in shade) and
- Deeper water (in sunlight).
There is a whole chapter on deciphering the colour of water in How to Read Water.
