I’ve been doing a few interviews for US radio stations recently.
Typically they last about ten minutes and can only be superficial. Recently I made my way through a cold wet evening to a studio in the small West Sussex village of Warningcamp, where I was linked up to a producer at KUER radio station in Utah.
‘How long will the interview be?’ I asked, after some transatlantic pleasantries.
‘About an hour.’ Came the reply.
It was a surprise. But a further surprise came in how well informed the interviewer, Doug Fabrizio, was.
There followed an hour that raced by, during which I was very happy to have no idea of the questions I would be asked. This spontaneous long interview hopefully offers some insight into natural navigation and my approach to it.
