Wedding Wombling

I have just spent a lovely weekend in the Brecon Beacons part of south Wales. The main reason for heading to Wales was a school friend’s wedding on the Saturday, but it was the perfect excuse to get into the ups and downs that are the Black Mountains. The distinct peak in the foreground of this photo is called Table Mountain, for reasons that may be apparent.

I have done plenty of ‘Downs and Dales’ style of walking over the past few months, so it was quite refreshing to get out into the harsher terrain that Wales serves up aplenty. In the valleys it was warm and humid, on the peaks there was a ferocious cold wind at times. It is ages since I have had to huddle in the lee of a triangulation pillar to take a drink of water!
