From Top to Bottom

I usually encourage people to scan for outdoor clues by looking from top to bottom - astronomy, weather, ground - and the reason can be seen in this photo.

It's always worth having a good look to see if the sun, moon or stars are offering any help, before getting on your hands and knees to peer at lichens or wildflowers.

The lichens and flowers aren't going anywhere in a hurry, but if you don't take advantage of a sun peeking through a patch of thinner cloud, then you'll really kick yourself if it disappears for another few hours.

The exception to this rule would be a helpful animal on the move.
